| CACHE | Council for Awards in Care, Health and Education. Qualifications awarded by the Council for Awards in Care, Health and Education a provider of vocational qualifications for those working in the care and education. |
| e-book | Electronic book viewed on the web, devices or computers. |
| Edexcel | An examination board providing examinations to schools and colleges in the UK. |
| FE | Further education. |
| GCSE | General Certificate of Secondary Education. a qualification in a specific subject typically taken by school students aged 14–16, in Wales, England and Northern Ireland. |
| HNC | Higher National Certificate. A higher education qualification of the United Kingdom. HNC is one level below an HND. |
| HND | Higher National Diploma. A higher education qualification of the United Kingdom. HND is one level above an HNC. |
| MARC record | MAchine-Readable Cataloging record that holds the data and information about an electronic resource in a particular format for ease of importing, exporting and comparing. |
| NVQ | National Vocational Qualification. Vocational qualifications studied in Wales, England and Northern Ireland. |
| ProQuest | Is a company that provides solutions that power research in libraries around the world with unique content. Including e-book central that hosts Jisc’s e-books for FE. |
| SQA | Scottish Qualifications Authority. An examination board providing examinations to schools and colleges in the Scotland. |
| SVQ | Scottish Vocational Qualification. Vocational qualifications studied in Scotland. |
| WJEC | An examination board providing examinations to schools and colleges in Wales, England and Northern Ireland. |
